Eclipse Season is upon us! It’s not every year we start off with an eclipse season.

Astrologers think of eclipses as New or Full Moons on steroids. We have two “Eclipse Seasons” per year, which usually include a New Moon and a Full Moon. We have a Solar Eclipse (New Moon) on January 5th at 15 degrees Capricorn. Two weeks later, a Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) takes place on the 20th at 0 degrees of Leo.

This eclipse season marks a huge transition for the Moon’s Nodes. We make the switch from the Leo- Aquarius axis to the Cancer-Capricorn axis. This is a big deal for each of us personally because for the next year and a half a new set of houses in our birth chart will be highlighted.

Eclipses do not mean “good” or “bad”. An astrologer can’t usually predict that something bad will happen to you just because there is an eclipse happening near a personal planet in your chart. However, we can stay that those topics will become more alive. They areas of life which they govern will become more important and there may be new and unexpected things that come into your life.

Treat these lunations with the utmost respect and reverence. The ancients were wise to fear eclipses since it does mean that the two most important luminaries (the Sun and the Moon are luminaries, meaning they give off light for us Earthlings) will be blocked for a period of time. Set your New and Full Moon intentions so that you can be as clear as possible on what you want to accomplish in the next 6 months!

Major Aspects for January

Mars in Aries
On December 31st, Mars enters Aries where it will stay until the middle of February. Mars rules Aries, which means it functions at a super high capacity.
